About Jon Schuler and CreativeCrete

Our Mission

Here at CreativeCrete our mission is to surpass expectations of what concrete products can be.  We strive to raise the standard of decorative concrete that is offered today on the market by decorative concrete artisans.  We are diligent about attending seminars around the country to keep up to date on new concrete technologies and ideas.  We find that attending many different seminars each year helps maintain our commitment of open minded thinking.  Everything from new products to new ideas or techniques keeps us fresh and excited about what we do.  We are constantly trying new products, new decorative techniques, and exploring out of the box thinking.

Our History

CreativeCrete was founded in 2000 by Jon Schuler when he was looking for something to challenge himself with outside of the medical field.  With a thirst for knowledge and a passion for creativity, concrete was the answer.

Jon had long been looking for the answer as to what could maintain his passion as a career.  Jon has an extensive educational background including double majoring in pre-med and chemistry, then graduating with a Pharm. D. (Doctor of Pharmacy).  It wasn’t long before he found the pharmacy field mundane.  Taking a hiatus from pharmacy in early 2000, he remodeled his own home.  Growing up around construction, working through the summers to pay for school, he had the ability to do most of the work himself.  Concrete was one of the materials of choice for his countertops.   He has seen them in other places, and knew that is what he wanted.  There were no countertop contractors in his area, so he took on the challenge himself.  Finding a lot of misinformation and lack of products associated with concrete countertops, Jon was driven to develop his own materials and different methods using what was available.

With much trial and error, Jon put his education to the test as he first began with mix design, and sealing technology.  Once completing his own project, he knew he could do better.  It’s that driven personality that began CreativeCrete.  He saw there was a need in his area that he knew he could fill, so he started a business.

CreativeCrete now offers clients concrete products that will far surpass their expectation of “concrete”.

“Making concrete countertops is like opening a gift on Christmas day to me.  With each step of the process, I really don’t know what I am going to get.  But as I mix, pour, watch it cure, grind, and stain, I transform the slab into the finished product.  Each step in the process is like peeling back each piece of the wrapping paper on a present, then once completed I finally get to the gift.  Each time I still get so excited when I see what is inside.”  Jon Schuler

Why CreativeCrete is right for you

If the word, "Concrete", conjures images of grey, broomed, cracked, spawled, ugly, stained, or unflattering, CreativeCrete is right for you.  If hearing the word, Concrete, associated with countertops makes you wonder why anyone would want that ugly garage floor put on top of your cabinets, then CreativeCrete is right for you.

Jon Schuler and CreativeCrete will introduce you to concrete related products that you never thought existed.  Ones that you will swear only a true artist could achieve.  CreativeCrete will show you how using, Concrete, as a medium will give you the kitchen of your dreams.  CreativeCrete will show you how concrete can be used to seamlessly match any design feature, effortlessly achieve any architectural creation, and flawlessly flow into any landscape.

Jon Schuler and CreativeCrete will introduce you to the idea that "Concrete" is simply a moldable material, that if used by a knowledgeable professional artisan, does not have to continue the stereotype of good old concrete.

When Jon Schuler finishes your project, you will think to yourself, WHY?  Why did I ever think, "Concrete" was……… "Just Concrete".
